Dell Notebooks – that warm inner glow

In March I recieved my new pride-and-joy and I did allow myself a feeling of smug satisfaction from having my new Dell Latitude D610.  Except of course for the apparently notorious problem with the sound in headphones – the solution that works is to buy headphones with volume control (yes, that simple).

The problem that’s more insidious, of course, is the recall on all the batteries as noted in ZDNet (and just about every other geek site in the world).

I caught the plane on Tuesday for a there-and-back-within-a-day trip to Melbourne for the IT & Management Centre of Excellence in CPA Australia.  I was stopped from using my beloved Dell 39,000 feet in the air due to a security advice that had come through that day – apparently security has to tape up the contacts on the notebook so you can’t use it on the plane.

Oh well, I got to watch the in-flight comedy shows instead of preparing for my meeting.
