You can call me on +61 7 3139 0325 or +61 0412 526 375, or email me on email@example.com.
I am Director of Applied Insight Pty Ltd, and am focussed upon the provision of professional, structured advice on the management of information systems to Queensland and Australian businesses. Specifically, I have extensive technical and consulting expertise in the following consulting areas related to information management:
- Information Technology Governance
- Information Systems Strategy
- Software Selection
- Information Management Strategy
- IT Service Reviews
I have considerable experience with the management of information systems through my previous consulting roles, as well as significant exposure to the development and implementation of IT Governance structures in order to ensure that information technology adds value to the business, and enables the business to achieve its business goals. I hold a Commerce Degree with Honours from The University of Queensland and a Masters of Information Systems from the same institution.
I possess a strong technical expertise in the area of business intelligence and data design and also retain a strong commercial focus through my qualification with a Commerce degree and qualifications as a CPA and through ten years of consulting experience. These consulting services are provided through the specialist consulting firm Applied Insight Pty Ltd. Through my consulting experience, I have been required to develop strong presentation skills (regularly presenting at the senior management and board level of clients). Furthermore, through my strong professional commitments I present often to professional members of the industry both locally and internationally (as outlined above).
I was Chairman of the Information Technology and Management Centre of Excellence for CPA Australia (from 2002 to 2009 as Chair), and have addressed research topics including IT Governance, Knowledge Management, and the use of Open Source Software in Australian business. This was a national role with CPA Australia.
I was also previously a member of the Board Education Committee for CPA Australia (2001 to 2005), which again is a national body responsible for providing guidance to and overall monitoring of the delivery and design of the CPA Program for CPA Australia.
I currently sit on a fairly informal Research Committee for the local ISACA chapter in Brisbane. My Honours Thesis was about budgeting (“Participation in the Budget Setting Process”). My Masters thesis was entitled “Information Request Ambiguity and End User Query Performance: Theory and Empirical Evidence”.
I am currently undertaking my phd at The University of Queensland. The research project is entitled “The effects of continued use of intelligent decision aids upon auditor knowledge”.
